News Article Carp Ridge Subdivision issue brought to Agriculture and Rural Affairs The issue is brought to more decision makers. On June 24th the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee met in our area. Martha Webber and Allan Joyner (for the Carp Ridge Society) were among those who made presentations to the committee regarding the Carp Ridge Subdivision issue. Only four councilors were in attendance but Rob Jellet, Peggy Feltmate, Shawn Little and Glenn Brooks all listened carefully to our presentations. They were impressed with the information and we followed up wth additional information by email as they were totally unfamiliar with our issue. At least two very long standing farmers from our area took exception to some of our comments as they felt it threatened their right to develop their properties as they wished. A lively discussion seemed to illustrate the common ground we share. That is that none of us are against sensible development and that this particular subdivision was quite different from any new proposal that might emerge as it was given draft approval some 13 years ago. We also affirmed our support for their right to farm and manage their property as they see fit. David Makin of the March Rural Association made a powerful presentation about the lack of co-ordination in the development planning in our area and the consequent risk to our water. His comments are here.
