Announcement Carp Ridge Society Meeting As you may have noticed on the website, we have lain the groundwork for an organization to be called the Carp Ridge Society. The main reason for creating yet another named group is that the only reliable way to obtain notices of all the city’s plans, projects, processes or studies that may affect our area is to be registered with them as a bona fide group. That means regular meetings and officers are required. If the website is to grow and provide much more relevant and critical information about how our area is developing we need the city's information as time goes on. The more we learn about what is going on out here the more important it becomes to be on the city's radar. Thanks to all of our efforts (and the spiritual leadership of our dear friend Martha Webber) we have achieved that to some degree. An example of this is the fact that we have been asked to make a special presentation to the Greenspace Advisory Committee of the city on October 25th. They will be coming out to Carp for a meeting at the memorial hall and our issue is their reason for coming to us. To plan that presentation and to get the Carp Ridge Society properly launched, I have booked the church hall at St. James Anglican church in Carp for next Wednesday October 20th at 7:00pm. I apologize for the short notice but our issue is coming to a head and to have the largest possible impact we need to organize some activities over the next month or so. The project is still moving forward and the city is expecting to get the developer’s studies any day now. In as few as 28 days the final approvals may be given. At the meeting we will be setting up a structure for the society, setting a realistic mission statement for it, outlining what the website can be grown to accommodate, determining who has time, skills or resources to contribute, and establishing a short term plan of action. If you cannot attend but you have skills and the desire to contribute please email me with your information. Feel free to invite anyone you think might be interested. I want to make it clear that my personal vision of the organization is that it be one to provide information more than one to advocate a particular position, but from time to time we will be forced to take action as we have been in the case of the Carp Ridge Subdivision. I'm very anxious to hear your ideas and suggestions. Allan Joyner
